Throttle & Brake Install

The screenshot below is a BVE 5 route currently in production by one of my absolute heroes .. please check his page for more details.... AND this video ... WELL worth it!

He has built from scratch a very realistic Japanese train cab, which is where I have gained most of my inspiration from :D

For a while, I have had in my possession a faulty PS2 Densha De Go Shinkansen controller, as seen above.

I thought that this would suffice for the Mk1 build, as I could keep the original mechanics by simply cutting and 'transplanting' it to the new 'life sized' console. The original handles and rumble motors have been removed and extended shafts added to bring it to scale with the overall console.

I used a 'door brush', cut to size, as a dust protector for the throttle and brake shifters.

The plastic strips will be well hidden with some lovely Aluminium face plates, with 'notch position' markings in the near future.

Whilst I am pleased so far with this build, ideally I would like to get my hands on some authentic, 'retired' controls from an Electric Multiple Unit, such as a Sydney Trains Tangara (Goninan & Co) or Melbourne Metro Trains (Comeng)..... Maybe for a Mk2?? ;)

It's OK to dream a little :D
